Sydney City Farm
Carolin was the Communications Director for the Sydney City Farm community group that resulted in the establishment of City Farm in Sydney Park by City of Sydney council.
This involved holding public meetings, running stalls at community events, getting media coverage in local and metro press, radio talk shows and TV news. Watch this segment in Gardening Australia which includes an interview with Carolin.
Health Access Through Yoga
Linda is helping to establish Iyengar Yoga Australia (IYA) as a thought leader in the Australian yoga community.
She is raising the profile of IYA through press releases, letters to the editor, blogs, podcasts and feature articles. The strategy also involves lobbying politicians and publicly making the case to restore the coverage of yoga in private health insurance (removed in April 2019). Health systems around the world are moving in the opposite direction. For example the UK National Health Service (NHS) seeks to prevent lifestyle diseases and offers yoga through ‘social prescribing’ – in which health professionals prescribe non-medical activities. Her media strategy raised the profile of this new festival and helped to achieve its aims of raising awareness of local music, indigenous cultures and permaculture in Central Queensland. She achieved media coverage on WIN TV – which ran two stories on the nightly news, The Morning Bulletin ran several two page spreads that were syndicated along the east coast to the Sunshine Coast Daily and other papers and Linda spoke to ABC radio for 10 minutes explaining all the festival had to offer.
